Where dips the rocky highland Of Sleuth Wood in the lake, There lies a leafy island Where flapping herons wake The drowsy water rats; There we've hid our faery vats, Full of berrys And of reddest stolen cherries. Come away, O human child! To the waters and the wild With a faery, hand in hand, For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.

Where the wave of moonlight glosses The dim gray sands with light, Far off by furthest Rosses We foot it all the night, Weaving olden dances Mingling hands and mingling glances Till the moon has taken flight; To and fro we leap And chase the frothy bubbles, While the world is full of troubles And anxious in its sleep. Come away, O human child! To the waters and the wild With a faery, hand in hand, For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.

Where the wandering water gushes From the hills above GLENCAR, In pools among the rushes That scare could bathe a star, We seek for slumbering trout And whispering in their ears Give them unquiet dreams; Leaning softly out From ferns that drop their tears Over the young streams. Come away, O human child! To the waters and the wild With a faery, hand in hand, For the world's more full of weeping than you can understand.

Away with us he's going, The solemn-eyed: He'll hear no more the lowing Of the calves on the warm hillside Or the kettle on the hob Sing peace into his breast, Or see the brown mice bob Round and round the oatmeal chest. For he comes, the human child, To the waters and the wild With a faery, hand in hand, For the world's more full of weeping than he can understand.

  • Love the danceand danced nicely,,useful when short in numbers ,I think the doble figure of is 8 incorrect and i supposed to be as the mens figureof !8, I nottice other do it the same as you Just a point ,does not take away fro the dance just unusual,Anton Irish Centre Centre Sunday nights i Camden town Tryin to revive Ceili in london

  • @CEILIMAN

Thanks 4 the comment; I know, something may be wrong @ the figure of 8 but our choreographer pretends to know all about irish dancing and doesn't allow any discussion.

    Keep on dancing, best wishes,

    Michael ♪♪♫♫♪♪

  • I'm also an adult dancer, love ceili/step dancing and in practicing. I like this natural and elegance style too. timing is great.

  • @CEILIMAN ...their double figure of eight does go the same way as the gents. I admit I've only watched one repeat of it but they didn't get it wrong the first time so I don't see why they would in subsequent repeats.

  • @Cuchullain10 Sorry so late back Tell your instructor to read the Ceili book AR Rinnce Foirne, the double figure o 8 is the same as the mens single 8`s,mind you he is not the only one to get it wrong.the main thing is You are All dancing "Real Ceili .We need to keep Ceili alive,,"plenty Sets not enough CeiliAnton

  • @queenievenus You do not have to dress formally for a Ceili it is all informal just come as you are and enjoy the event, that`s what Ceili dancing is about. We are @the Irish centre Camden Town on sunday nights ,open to all ages and Nationals,8pm sharp for tuition in basic foot work and dance,Anton
