Super Mario Bros Deluxe - "Glitch Mario" form

This is the result of the game attempting to withdraw an invalid form of Mario/Luigi on Super Mario Bros Deluxe. The normal identifiers for this address are 00 (small mario/luigi) and 01 (large mario/luigi). Fire Mario/Luigi and invincible Mario/Luigi are managed differently but you can't derive any invalid Marios/Luigis from those additional addresses alone unfortunately.

However, the 'size form' FE (254) interestingly results in a 'glitch Mario/Luigi form' which doesn't freeze the game. Notably the collision data for Mario isn't assigned properly and the huge size of Mario prevents the HUB from loading properly. However, travelling around the stage can be made easier with the 'free movement' code.

Man, I love hacking this game. Some oddities that I've encountered include having the game randomly erased and then restoring the save the next time I turned it on!

@HarvestmanMan Recently on my cartridge I've accidentally formatted my whole challenge data, I tried generating codes to try and modify Mario's Y co-ordinate IIRC (my 'Xploder' has a built in trainer) but I didn't narrow the results down enough and activating the codes somehow deleted my challenge data afterwards, so now I'm having to play through the whole challenge section again, though I haven't played this game in a long time, so I'm finding it fun to go through and beat it again. :)

Thanks. There are a few similar things like this on other games I've come across like glitch tetris blocks. I should probably get round to videoing them, though the glitch tetris blocks easily freeze/reset the game :(

this is interesing. I love game that can let you modifiy a hex list (Like pokémon modifier in pokémon blue/red/yellow or play as a character modifier in mortal kombat)
