Singularly gorgeous. And this is *not* the recording that went public- this was a live take done just for the film. You can tell; there are phrasings and pauses throughout the song which differ from the record. Even the vocalizing done at the beginning is different, and I love the interplay and harmony Streisand does with Kristofferson- it gives the already romantic ballad even more wistfulness. A stunning performance all around. This, indeed, is how it's done.

Great observation. They may have had their squabbles making this movie, but this was clearly a good day.  You chose the perfect word; Kris here was truly AWESTRUCK, and it appeared quite emotional.
