This is one of the reasons I like old 50's and 60's cartoons so much; along with their innocence, the makers got away with a LOT of subtle references that would NEVER be allowed today!
In 1961, drug abuse wasn't as well-known as it would become. The 'seeing music' is a reference to LSD, which was still *legal* in 1961! There's a lot of opium references, too!
And yeah, the 'stranger danger' IS creepy!!!
They *definitely* don't make 'em like that anymore!!!
ok, can anyone say "Stranger EFFIN Danger?!" he said "I got a trick and I only show it to "special" customers?!" WTF?! And then he appears to drug him and he starts seeing things and getting chased by a "Weasel?" Really!? and "The Magic Pipes?!" LMBO! wooooow...well, innocent times...right?
lol this was so insane with that weird offkey harmonica music and Alvin hallucinating . . . I cracked up laughing at Dave spinning around and singing at 2:16. Wow . . .
