Little Shelter:
Little Shelter Animal Adoption Center, Inc. is a non-profit, no-kill animal shelter nestled on six wooded acres in Huntington, Long Island. The shelter is Suffolk County's oldest humane society and has been dedicated to saving abandoned dogs and cats and placing them into homes since 1927. The shelter does not discriminate based on age, breed or physical condition. The majority of animals in our care have been saved from kill shelters on Long Island, in the metropolitan New York area, and in several southern states. All animals in our care receive the highest quality medical attention and are spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Potential adopters are throughly screened to ensure the best quality homes.
Little Shelter is at the forefront of the animal welfare movement. By educating the public about responsible pet care and assisting them with their animal companions, we hope to stop the killing of homeless animals. Only by reaching out to the local population can we hope to make the world safer for all dogs and cats. Little Shelter strives to bring the shelter to the community through varied and unique outreach programs such as Early Age Spay/Neuter, Animal Soup Kitchen (ASK) and Humane Education.
