Dr. Linda Elder defines and discusses human sociocentric behavior and the inherent problems that arise from this social extension of egocentric behavior. It is recommended to view the Egocentricity series along with this one. Excerpts from sessions at the 27th International Conference on Critical Thinking

  • What an informative discourse. If only I had incorporated the concept of sociocentricity and egocentricity in my last video.

    Thanks for the vids!

No, the idea is "free yourself, disregard YOUR NARROW GROUP for the greater good."

For example, if you want to serve your country, but your country is damaging the rest of the world, then you need to disregard the narrow interests of your own peer group for the broader purpose of the larger human family.

  • Free yourself ! Disregard the group and the greater good!

This is a pretty weird religion...

  • @ChrisFedelleck No, your thinking is not faulty at all. I think I misunderstood you the first time, and I stand corrected. We should all prioritize critical thinking for all areas of our lives.

  • all the problems in life are not just moral problems....if i devote my life to the pursuit of using critical thinking and all other means to find the truth of reality with the deepest desire for others to find this same truth, in my opinion is a higher priority than a lot of global moral issues, is my thinking faulty?
