The debut single, "Psychedelic Musik" by London punk band Lightning Raiders from 1980 on Arista Records (ARIST 341). The B-side is the equally great "Views". The band released only two singles before disbanding in 1981. Former Sex Pistols members Steve Jones and Paul Cook play on this record, although they were not official members of the band. Raiders' bassist Andy Allen had played bass on The Sex Pistols' 1979 single, "Silly Thing". Interestingly enough, Allen would later be replaced in Lightning Raiders by Duncan Sanderson formerly of The Pink Fairies.

  • Oh yeah, not psychedelic at all musically, only in subject matter. I wonder if any psychedelic fans bought this record based on title alone only to be shocked and disappointed by the glam/punk sounds that emanated from their speakers.

  • The best song was "Big Rock" now lost

  • Views is my favourite too... wasn't Andy Allen in the Professionals with Cook and Jones ? I saw him at a funeral a couple of weeks ago...if it's the same Andy Allen we're talking about.

  • VIews is the DEFINATE best song of this 45!!!!

  • Surprised to see this here. The only thing I have is a song called 'Criminal World' on a vinyl compilation called 'Double Hard Vol. 2. It's on Ariola records Benulux. Other bands on this compilation were Motorhead, Girlschool, Schenker, UFO, Gillan, Tygers of PT, Foghat, The Rods, Angelwitch and Donny Iris.

I've never really seen much mention of them.

  • Bloody hell! I saw these support Motorhead at Leeds Queens Hall circa 1980 on the Beer Drinkers & Hell Raisers tour. They got bottled until Lemmy came out & bollocks us. Then the audience loved them

  • Hey I used 2 b a big fan... seen them many times in London... this wasnt a punk or glam rock band, they had their own driving new wave rock sound, which cannot be classified under any style... they had a large selection of some real coool sounds... really a great band that never really made it only because they didnt fit nicely into a music style which the record companies were looking 4... real shame... I think Andy Allen went on to record a blues album, but I dont know if it was ever released

  • good record, but totally unpsychedelic.

I consider it as glam (new york dolls influence)

  • Killer song!

  • very nice!
