Note - Sound has now been removed from this video! Eddie Lewis Droid IT Training - http://www.hdd-recoverytraining.com Online Physical Data Recovery Training using the platter exchange kit from HDRC - India Work is not done in a clean room as just wanted to show how easy this tool is to use. These tools should always be used in a clean room when working on a clients hard drive to prevent data loss. In this short video I am removing the platters from a 300GB Seagate Hard drive. The drive is not a clients drive.
3. Platter Exchanger

This tool has to be my absolute personal favorite tool developed by H.D.R.C for physical recovery. What was once a very precise, slow and tedious task can now be done quickly, safely and effectively with the same level of precision. Adding this tool to your inventory is a way of saving your company time and money, as well as increasing your success rate. The tool supports single platter and multi platter hard drives, and for those of you who are wondering what I was before I tried this. What about the Seagate drives with plastic spacers / heat dissipaters between the platters? The answer to this question is very simply yes. This tool has no problem in removing the platters from those Seagate drives we have so far had difficulty with. In fact the satisfaction from removing these platters in one swift move is a very positive feeling.

The tool grips the circumference of the platter or, it also protects the platters from damage that can be caused by screws, screwdrivers or other tools some practitioners use. The design is such that the screws are kept from being dropped on the platters and access to them is freely available from the top. The platter is held in a balanced way and is removed in one swift upwards motion. H.D.R.C Read / Write tool enables you to take out the platter and examine it for damage without touching the platters surface. The platter is covered at all times and is again kept free from dust.
The tool has many advantages.

When you are ready to move the platters to a donor drive you simply place the platter carefully over the motor spindle. Push down to ensure everything is securely in place, tighten the screws again that attach the spindle motor to the platters. Quick presses of two buttons and lift the tool away. Not only is this a low cost solution but it is also simple, convenient and easy to use.
