wonderful movie. I saw the talented mr. ripley with matt damon and jude law, and I like it very much. but this movie is better.

I just saw this movie the other day...Delon is the perfect Ripley. I just wish it didn't end the way it did so Clement and Delon could continue the series.

I haven't seen the American Friend (the first adaption of Ripley's Game) with Dennis Hopper but I doubt he has anything on Mr. Delon.

I don't know which one is the perfect Ripley, they're totally different i think..Matt Damon's Ripley was too sentimental,completely the opposite of Delon's Ripley who didn't give a damn about Dickie (here renamed Phillipe). I found Delon's Ripley a little more sinister..there's a scene, I think is after killing Freddie where he goes directly into the kitchen, sits down and devours a chicken (literally), Lol..I was like WHAT THE F***!!

Patricia Highsmith herself once said that Delon as Ripley was perfect.

But she never watched the Minghella remake and Damon as Ripley.

Truth is: they are two amazing movies, two amazing performances.
