I ROCK to this, and have always had it in my top 25 ... it was so great to see Edwin Starr perform it live on stage just a few short years ago. He still sang it with a passion -- right after he finishes the song, look at the glee and the boyish JOY on his face ... that smile is PRICELESS !!

Edwin Starr was born in Nashville, but came to and was raised in Cleveland, Ohio when he was very young. He use to date my sister when he was in high school (East Technical) and sang with a band called the Futuretones. His birth name is Charles Hatcher. He has a sister (Patty) who still lives in Cleveland, a brother name Terry and another (the baby sibling) Angelo who played in his brother's band.
