This is me pre- and post-surgery in December 2001 for Dystonia. I had bilateral deep brain stimulation (DBS) implants to help control my movement disorder.

  • Wish him luck. I was the sixth person in the US to have it for cervical dystonia. Let's hope he has as much success as I have been fortunate to realize.

  • Rob, Congratulations on the outcome of you surgery. I've been trying to locate your e-mail, as after my computer crashed, i lost all my contacts. Please send your e-mail or mailing address. Need to get a hold of you.

    Pat.

  • i had DBS about a year and half ago i am off all meds and movement free best thing i ever did

  • I don't have Dystonia, but I have essentiall tremor that really have stoped my life. Well, I don't think I have distonia at least, I know you get movement disorders from it but Distonia hurts doesnt it? Constantly..? However, I'd want to have this surgery, or I'll never have my life back again. Medicines doesn't work, well I'm feeling with you all out there!!

  • Absolutely amazing result. All the best in life Robert.

  • thanks for showing this--- this gives folks hope

  • I, too, am a physician. Medtronic makes this device, and it has allowed me to return to a fairly normal life. I hope you get what you want out of a career in medicine. Thanks for viewing my video.
