On arrival the Kearny Fire Department had reports of fire in a two-story, brick, occupied multiple dwelling, with reports from the Kearny Police Department that numerous occupants were trapped or unaccounted for. KFD Squad 2 quickly placed (1) hand-line into operation while Tower 2 and Engine 1 made primary searches of the building. Ground ladders put into place to remove occupants from the roof of a garage on the B-side of the building. (1) fire-fighter removed by EMS due to a leg injury suffered during the initial attack.
