From 1931: George Gershwins "New York Rhapsody" sets expressionist style film to music. Very Haunting, don't you think?

  • This is crazy. So ahead of its time.

  • Amazing to see this music in its original context... I am writing a novel set at this time, surely my protagonist would have seen this. I believe the movie is called Delicious and came out on Christmas Day 1931.

  • Now THIS film posting justifies YouTube! Thank you, "perfectjazz78"! I'm a fan of this work and was amazed how much of it is in the film - and in Gershwin's original orchestration! Except for M. Tilson-Thomas' performances, what is usually recorded and performed is a very simplified re-orchestration done after Gershwin's death. This is the Real Thing! Thank you!

  • janet gaynor--how cute was she!

  • I love it !!!

  • The actress is Janet Gaynor of the original "A Star is Born" from 1937. Haunting it is.

  • The actress is Janet Gaynor - the star of the orginal A Star Is Born from 1937. I love Gershwin's music.

  • In concert, this music is called Gershwin's Second Rhapsody.

  • Haunting is right! What film did this come from?
