  • How are dobsonians for astrophotography?

  • @saxabass Mostly Dobsonian mounted reflectors are not used to Astrophotography. The most commonly used mount for astrophotography is the German Equatorial Mount. Some people have built Equatorial wedges for their dobs so that you don't have to manually track an object but it is not too common. I have done some lunar and planetary imaging with my old 10" dob but if you are serious about imaging you definitely want a motorized equatorial mount.

  • yes true, on the mag my 12 " dob will soon be out again a will film saturn now its rise in a lot earlier its around 145 in the eas here were i am great vid all the same

    clear skies always

  • @todd8137 Nice, I was viewing Saturn last night.. it looks absolutely stunning this year!

  • I'm getting a 10" Dob, is it as good as they say?

  • @siennarecords It really depends wether you live in a light polluted area or not. From the city you can observe the planets with no problem. To see fainter nebulae and galaxies you need to head to darker skies. But in my opinion I would say , Yea it is worth it.
