Israeli-Gaza Demonstration, Minneapolis, June 1

Minneapolis, June 1, 2010. About 250 protestors rallied in front of the Minneapolis office of Sen. Amy Klobuchar to protest the May 30 attack on the Free Gaza Flotilla in international waters off the coast of Gaza. Sixteen peace activists were reported killed with more than 50 wounded. The flotilla was flying Irish, Turkish and Greek flags.

The ships were carrying much needed humanitarian aid for the besieged Gazans who have lived behind the Israeli blockade for over 5 years.

The group was angry and loud. It included Minnesotans of many ethnicities, ages and backgrounds. A group of about 30 pushed into Sen. Klobuchar's office and passionately presented their cases to her state director.

The Myth of the Siege of Gaza

Gaza is not cut off from the outside world. In the last year, the markets of Gaza have been flooded with produce and merchandise. In fact, in 2009, a total of 7,233 truckloads of humanitarian aid from the international community passed from Israel into Gaza.
