http://www.themusicbox.ie organizes a contest, providing a backing track audio file for you, to improvise and make some video.

Recorded at home, Barcelona, Spain. In one of the hottests and wettests days of the end of the summer 2009.

Gear used:

DAW = Digidesign Pro Tools 8.0cs3 LE
Audio Interface = Digidesign Rack 003
Pre-Amp = SPL Track One
Guitar = PRS 513 Rosewood
Amp = NONE!. Used the Pro Tools' Eleven amp simulator plugin (I cannot find my amp's cables!)
Cable = cheap chinese one (the only I had)
Pick = the first and only one I found around
Beer = Grafenwalder Pils (burp!).

I couldn't be the Guitarist of Any year, not of 2009 and neither of any future year, at least that a kill'all'guitarist bomb is dropped... hmm... but... in that case... I will disapear also... mmm... no way!.

Stop reading!
I have nothing else to say... or... maybe just:

Thank you for your attention.

Cheers

  • Do you get any pickup hum when the neck humbucker is on with the middle pickup.

    5 way in the 2nd position from the neck and the 3 way switch in 2nd position or the humbucking mode.

  • @seprs1

    Hum in notch positions of the 5-way switch depend on the 3-way selection also.

    If the 3-way is in single coil mode, no hum (I've to confirm this).

    If the 3-way is in medium or high output humbucker mode then, yes, since you are combining a humbucker and a single coil.

    But, take into account one simple thing. To achieve that characteristic strato's twang or quack, you want both single pickups out-of-phase (so, hum!!!). You can tame it with some quality noise gate

  • @lighteningboy I've got an American Deluxe Strat, a Mexican Tele (excelent!), a Korean LP copy and a few others and I still want a Mexican John Vaughan Strato. Ha ha ha. I am downsizing my expenses, everytime more.

  • @hermeticoguitar I've got an American Tele, an American Deluxe Strat and a Gibson Les Paul...but I still want your gutiar, hahahaha

  • @lighteningboy About pickup configuration. Certaily is the most versatile STOCK, as the Tele Baja is. But I've got versatility in all my axes. I design my own wiring diagrams to give to each axe what I am demanding from her.

  • @lighteningboy No easy answer here. It's an awesome piece of luthery. Practicaly perfect in touch and tone (maybe a Floyd Rose would do it perfect). But, sincerly, it's out of my budget. While I was paying her, I lost the oportunity to get other guitars I was interested on, since I like diversity. A tool for each need. Let's say that the 513 can cover 80% of ground. I still want an Strato or a Tele or an LP when I need those classic sounds. If I had to choose one of my axes, this shold be the 1

  • @hermeticoguitar Very versatile pickup configuration. Are you glad you bought it?

  • @lighteningboy But, with a great amp, there is HUGE difference between this guitar and the rest of mine. The rest seem toys, once you hear this one in the amp.

  • @lighteningboy You're right. It took my two years to pay the bank's credit!
