If GM will pull together a concept of oh, say, a car they were producing ten years ago, I would be all for this. But the fact is, the auto industry has leveled off technological advancement of fuel economy, and redirected funding to advertising their existing, but more beefy cars.
The companies have driven themselves into paying massive amounts of money to their workers, and now, the companies are running out of golden parachute fabric, and are using their mass to say they need help.
The automobile manufacturers have been driving themselves into failure. I don't mean to dig up the past [well actually I do] the auto industry has been driving their big beastly gas guzzlers, and only advertising the biggest, most horsepower hogs on the road today.
Remember, the Prius (the most fuel efficient car on American roads) was a competitive push from GM's EV1. Toyota came out with the Prius, GM mysteriously pulled all EV1 cars off the road, and destroyed them all.

Here I disagree.
