Women like Marcia and Pauline Hanson who seem to be angry, resentful and hateful shouldn't really be taken seriously on any issue. The problem is not the issues they are speaking about...the problem is something in their pasts that have turned them into such bitter individuals. "I think you need to understand..." she says to Barb Shaw. Ms Shaw lives in a town camp under the realities of the Federal Intervention, whereas Langton does not.

I can understand her viewpoint as more aggressive and less submissive because she's been fed up with the government bullshit from people that refuse to even acknowledge important issues. When you deal with bullshit and hate from ignorant people for a long time, you're bound not be sweet and patient with them anymore.

Is this really the person the Australian Government regards as one of its most important indigenous advisors? If so, it is no wonder that the intervention is so strongly opposed by the majority of indigenous people. Shame on you Marcia.

Marcia differentiate between the flawed implementation of the intervention and the need for a strong government response to the levels of impoverishment, substance abuse and violence in many NT Aboriginal communities. Like any good leader she has had to make some hard decisions and if I had to weigh her views against some of the ignorant whitefellas (like the lad on the camera) protesting against the Intervention in Sydney or Melbourne I'd take Marcia's line everytime. A brave woman; go sister!
