The extended intro/theme to the 1979 Saturday morning series. A kind of Saturday Morning Live, it was taped at the same studio as SNL, the show featured comedy sketches, musical performances, as well as interviews with various celebrities.

Hot Hero Sandwich was created by Bruce and Carole Hart, who were two of the original writers on Sesame Street.

  • OMG, 1979. I was only 9 years old at the time, but this stuck in my head forever. I thought I would NEVER see this again, just like so many good things from back then just disappeared, never to be seen or heard again. I wish this show could have survived all the way through the 80's-- that would have been so cool to grow up with. Thank you SO MUCH for posting this and bringing back a good piece of my childhood. If this EVER comes out on DVD, I'll be first in line to get my copy.

  • THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!! Have been looking fo this

    for years.THANK YOU!

  • I recently heard the song "Reminiscing" by The Little River Band. That made me remember "Hot Hero Sandwich" because The Little River Band once appeared on the show performing their classic hit "The Lonesome Loser." Though "Hot Hero Sandwich" lasted only one season, it hooked me from the start and I never missed it. It was nice seeing this video. Thanks for posting it. Long Live Stanley Dipstick! Don't forget Captain Hero!

  • @cowboybear40 Yeah, but it would still probably stink to high heaven!

  • This show starred Paul O'Keefe. In 1963 - 1965, he was Patty Lane's kid brother on The Patty Duke Show.

  • I remember there was an active parental movement to get this series canceled at the time

a lot of parents felt threatened by its honesty for some reason

I remember reading parents who wrote to the newspaper or to TV Guide praising their son or daughter for speaking out against the series

  • When I reminisce about Saturday morning television of the 70s, I think one of its goals must have been to get every kid in Southern California on tv at least once.

  • "Thank-you" & 'WOW" I am getting old. Anyway A+ & keep up the good work

  • @Kohntarkosz as well as an emmy winner for the series "Dream On"

  • Denny Dillion later won emmys for the HBO show "Dream On". You gotta start somewhere.
