Long ago, I didn't know nothing about Jesus and His love
I had heard about Him, but I had never felt
this manna which comes down from above
In this life of sin I could no longer stand
I asked my mother how do you get to know the man
She said you must be, don't you see you've got to be ....Born again
You must have that fire and Holy Ghost
that Burning churning keeps the prayer wheel turning
The kind of religion you cannot conceal
It makes you move, makes you shout,
Makes you cry when it's real
I've got my hand right in the windin' chain
My souls been anchored in my Jesus' name
I'm filled within, I've free from sin
You know I've been born again
I started to walk, I had a new walk
I started to talk, I had a new talk
I looked at my hands, my hands looked new
I looked at my feet and they did too
I've got my hand right in the windin' chain
My souls been anchored in my Jesus' name
I'm filled within, I've free from sin
You know I've been born again

DOROTHY LOVE COATES ALSO HAS A MEMORIAL MYSPACE PAGE... SEARCH FOR HER NAME...

Dorothy Love Coates was a composer ("I'm Holding", "Every Day Will Be Sunday"). She was also leading The (Original) Gospel Harmonettes, a female aggregation, who sang Gospel songs.

In fact, this group was formed in 1940, and its first members were Mildred Madison Miller, Odessa Glasgow Edwards, Vera Conner Kolls, Willie M. Brooks Newberry and their composer was Evelyn Starks.

The first recording of this group was in 1949, without Dorothy Love Coates, who started her recording with the (Original) Gospel Harmonettes in 1951.

In the middle 1950s, the group was composed of D. Love, M. Miller, W. Newberry, V. Kolls, O. Edwards, with Herbert "Pee Wee" Pickard, piano. Their records were under the labels Victor, Speciality, Nashboro, Andex and Savoy.

Here are some of their songs:
"Come and Go With Me", "Every Day Will Be Sunday", "God Shall Wipe Away All Tears", "He's Got Everything You Need", "I'm On My Way", "I Won't Let Go", "Till My Change Comes", "That's Enough".

  • I love this song, it ministers to me so much!

I go to one of those fancy-pants megachurches where the lyrics to songs are on powerpoint projection screens. Its a great church, but just ONCE I would love for them to whip out a hymn like this. We dont need any lyrics; wouldn't need any instruments either..our hands and feet made the music. Old time religion, don't be scared to take it back!

  • My favorite part is 3:15-3:30 lol she was feelin it

  • Reminds me of my grandmother during the time she was teaching me to play piano for the church, this was one of her favorite song, though I still play for churches it's just not the same anymore, we use to rock the church with praise and songs, now with the adjustments that I had to make with my music to be contemporary it lost a lot in translation.

  • @michaelj1959 That is James Bignon.

  • @michaelj1959 That is Stanley Keeble nevermind it ain't him until 3:30

  • @jholyghosthead Its Rebecca Davis of the Argo Singers if I remember correctly.

  • @sopranist88 No she came after Vera left the group.

  • My, Sister Coates could sing! I'm a sixty-five year old white boy who used to scoff at such Spirit-filled singing, but the better I know my Master the more I long to join in with heart-felt music. There is indeed a place for emotion in worshiping our infinite, self-existent, loving God.

  • Who is the genleman at3:08 in the black suit and blue tie?

  • My God, my God, she sang this song. I just discovered this video and it has become part of my of my morning devotion. This is the kind of Holy Ghost spirit we need in our churches and homes. Then we will hear from heaven then our children and people will be saved. leah108ful
