  • Hi Andy

what settings do you put on the Q3 to get those great sounds?

i have been trying to capture my son's rock band, but i'm getting nothing like your sound, - can you help? thanks Barry

  • Thanks for the question, Barry. I actually used the "AUTO" setting and the Q3 set itself. There are many other factors, (mic placement, EQ, etc) that will affect your outcome. They don't give me enough space to write about it here, but feel free to call me here, at Streamline AV for a more specific discussion. 1-800-719-5034.

  • Zoom makes a cool product, the Q3, but then ruins it by making the video 4:3,,,I guess Zoom never heard of widescreen, or WVGA or HD.

I would buy the Q3 but then I would have to find a square TV to watch the footage on and no one makes square TV's anymore.

    Dumbass Zoom company !!!!

    Cheers

    Davyo

  • I don't know where my old comment went, but what I said was that you can certainly watch it on any TV, but it's made for the web, and it does that really well. It's more of an audio recorder than a video recorder, designed to get your band on YoutTube. But, like you, I also look forward to an HD version. That will be awesome.

  • Hey andy

I was wondering about this the video is great and the mic tooo but if you have an amp(guitar)

could you plug a cble into that and recored the sound only of the amp while takeing a video ?

if so awsome im getting it if not ,do know of any that do?!

    Thanks

  • @StreamlineAudioVideo the Q3 HD is already buyable... but its too expensive, i think...

  • Can you use the Q3 as a mic through the line-out plug? I mean, can you record audio directly into you computer if you connect it in the plug for the mic?

  • @dig6dog If its YOUR gig and YOUR sound man its not a problem, EXCEPT for most small gigs, the PA mix is heavily vocals biased so it would sound rubbish anyway. If you want to hear what the audience hears, you need to record where the audience is. Its a small gig tool.

  • I love my H2 (except that my 40 piece Samba Drum band can still overload the input if its placed to close!). Its an easy way to record the whole rehearsal. Now I'm looking at the same kind of simplicity to video gigs.

A couple of things that bug me about the H2 that I hope won't follow in the Q3:-

Batteries go dead after a week, even if you don't use it.

Every time i take the batteries out, I need to reset the clock.

Has anyone seen that happen in the Q3?

  • HAHA! Witch and the Saint! One of my favorite concert band pieces

  • I mean accept not except. no EDIT button on youtube XD

  • The Q3 doesn't come close to the H2n when it comes to sound quality. while it's still good if you get a chance of trying them side by side you will notice that the H4n sounds much better.

I hope the "Q4" will have min. 720p 16:9 with the sound quality of the H4n.

4:3 killed this one for me while i can except the sound quality XD

  • it would be so great on hd
