Geez, all you pseudo-experts really enjoy bashing her, don't you? Listen, even if what she says doesn't go with what you've learned or what you've picked up off of the internet, it doesn't mean it's wrong. It depends on who your teacher is or who the advice giver is. There are a thousand and one ways to go about even the most basic concepts of playing. Each person, each teacher, and each school of thought is different.

I was in Yanni's orchestra. It is important that you flutists realize there is no true correct technique. Whether you're comfortable holding the flute at a slant or completely parallel is up to the player. Both postures are completely acceptable. Pitch differs as well, whether you're using a pure silver flute or a sterling flute. Nickel is the lowest grade, I suggest avoiding it.
Use your muscles for classical and diaphragm for jazz. Thank you for your demo Sarah. I commend you.
