@RonPaul2008dotcomluv I think that there was a lot of propaganda coming from the hospital in Fallujah - even before the attack in 2004. The US did not bomb that far north and upstream in 1991.

Most of the defects in Iraq suggest no exposure of parents or Fetus to DU. It would be interesting to sample, during the survey, the Iraqi custom of marrying first cousins.

The Amish of Pennsylvania and Ohio practice this and have a higher incidence of defects too. It'll contribute.

The key word is depleted - like what the US uses. Because it is not radioactive - that is not an issue.

Oxidation and solubility of Uranium can enter the water supply and cause health problems - if levels are toxic. Remember, DU is less radioactive than yellowcake mined out of the earth to begin with.

@RonPaul2008dotcomluv No, what I have written is completely true of depleted Uranium. The World Health Organization has established a daily "tolerated intake" of soluble uranium salts for the general public of 0.5 µg/kg body weight, or 35 µg for a 70 kg adult.

A wiki article gives the toxicity reports in vitro (in the lab) that are a million times greater than contamination in the field.

Toxicity effects viscera and filtration (liver, kidneys) the most, but at high levels

@RonPaul2008dotcomluv Depleted uranium (DU) is natural uranium that has had it's fissile isotope (U235) removed and is heavier than lead. DU is used to shield radiologists from harmful radiation and in armor penetrating munitions due to it's mass and chrystaline or sharpening structure.

Actually, I joined right after September 11 - realizing that Saddam was not involved with 911 and al Qaeda was a terror group. While Saddam had unresolved issues with the UN, he corrupted the UN food for oil program, starved his people and blamed the US.
