Also, canned pumpkin may be available only during the holiday season, so stock up with several cans at that time. 2010 was the year of the great pumpkin shortage. If no pumpkin available, you can also use PLAIN canned sweet potatoes - same amount. Mash them up and store in the fridge.

Use PLAIN canned pumpkin, and NOT pumpkin pie filling - very important. Little dogs get 2-3 mounded teaspoons per day - bigger dogs (50lbs or more) get 2-4 mounded tablespoons daily. Put on paper plate and give throughout the day OR add to meals OR place in an ice tray and give as treats. Ease up after 3-7 days when things have returned to normal. Giving too much can make diarrhea worse, but the right amount stops diarrhea and bulks up the stool. YOU'RE WELCOME!
