"Make Mine Freedom" Cartoon (1948)

In 1948 HARDING COLLEGE produced this animated cartoon heralding the principles of freedom that made this country great and defining the threats posed by excessive government to these same freedoms. The cartoon explained in a simple, entertaining way how FREE ENTERPRISE built this nation and transformed it into the envy of the world. The applicability of this cartoon today is uncanny! Outstanding! Our country and freedom are under attack by the politicians and the far left. This cartoon, created years ago, is a warning to us all.

This should make our American hearts beat with pride.Our Constitution was God given people! Some hate it and wish to crush America no matter what. It never gets outdated, capitalism and our cherished way of life is a living, breathing thing and we should all remember how it all started. It is up to us to fight what is going on in Washington.God blessed America! God Bless our soldiers who keep America free. As for me, I am proud of America and I love her. This cartoon is not a warning of the "far left" its a warning of giving up our values, which are fairly centrist, and include freedom, it any ideology which tries to break us apart or turn our backs on who we are. The far left, which includes political communism, is included, but that is not advocated by any major party. It would likely oppose Nazism and Fascism, both far right wing institutions, though once again, not openly supported by any major American party.

I have to say, the lines delivered at 8:27 are probably the most relevant words for our political environment. The worst part is that it's no single party to blame for it, as every leading political party today has tried very hard to separate and pit us against one another in an effort to more easily lead us under their influence and control. The danger is that we're so blind and unwilling to work together that the problem gets worse with every year.

I'd rather live in Europe where at least I know if I get sick I won't have to spend 10s of thousands of dollars for treatment.

That's how great Free Enterprise is when it won't even allow some socialist elements that might make America even s remotely humane democracy.
