2nd hero glitch. it happens when a) you cart tilt when you're loading a new file or b) somethings wrong with the cart. you should look it up. very interesting glitch actually.

Hey man,
this happened to me a while ago- right as I was about to finish the game. My data was all erased so it was pretty annoying... but after I restarted the system/adjusted the cartridge a few times in the next few days it all came back. Just try doing the "NES" type therapy with your cartridge in the slot- move it around a little and keep trying! Good luck.

wow, the same thing happened to me. I was at majora mask boss fight when i pulled the controller wire. I freaked out because the screen turned white. I restarted my n64 and found all me data was erased. when i restarted i found them in my items and my masks.
