@kapierce1981 Your in good company...Benjamin Franklin, in a 1773 letter, expressed regret that he lived "in a century too little advanced, and too near the infancy of science" that he could not be preserved and revived to fulfil his "very ardent desire to see and observe the state of America a hundred years hence." Few people think of him as a nut rather he is revered as a forward thinking pioneer and inventor who's wisdom and insight helped shape this great country!
who knows what medicine and science will achieve in the next 20 or 30 years let alone 200 years. By then they might just take all of your memories put them in a flash drive and plug it into a new version of you "clone". and by the time they thaw out maybe mankind will have reached some sort of peace with itself. on that note I would not mind seeing what our civilization has achieved in that amount of time.
@Starskylina87 "Til death do us part" is a wedding promise and like the words bogus or wierd they convey no meaning about why you dont believe in cryonics. Rather they are just different ways to say the same thing...ie you dont believe in cryonics, its bogus, its weird. The question is why do you think its bogus, wierd, fantasy ect? Dont say because its fooey, strange, and crazy either unless you have some actually reasons to back up your claims. Name one reason??
@Starskylina87 Please explain why you think it is a stupid fantasy. Just because something doesn't make sense to you does not mean its fantasy. R. Ettinger was a professor of physics and many doctors, scientists, and professionals think that Cryonics is a sound idea. There are peer reviewed scientific journals and mountains of evidence to support cryonics. There has yet to be one serious scientific criticism of the concept. What part does not make sense to you, perhaps I can clarify it.
@SlingBlade79 Yes indeed it would be very humane to take someone who for instance had terminal cancer and put them in cryonics to await a potential future cure rather then slowly die painfully with little physical hope. However moral and compassionate, that would be akin to murder in the eyes of the law. So until we can educate the public and change the laws we are forced to abide by them no mater how distasteful. BTW cryogenics is the science of cold as oppossed to cryonics (freezing people)
@DK0526 well said. and I believe if we put someone deathly ill in a cryo state they may be able to heal without all the suffering..? what is your take on that aspect of cryogenics?
@SlingBlade79 Well the truth is that no one knows for sure because there is no scientific measurment for detection of the soul. That doesnt mean it doesnt exist. Its just impossible to measure. However there is presidence. When we bring someone back with a defibulator or CPR they appear to have thier souls intact. No one asks when did thier souls go? I presume it will be the same with cryonics patients revived. I see no reason that there would be an expiration date on a soul.
