  • does anybody know exactly how pete got the synth sound for songs like this, and The Relay

  • @platoon812 dear mate, listening to Pete's interviews I know that during the "lifehouse period" (that is quite exactly the "who's next period") he worked so hard in his home studio with a little synth and experimented a lot of sounds... if you listen to the lifehouse demos they're full of great synth sounds... he was, is and still will be a fucking genius :)

  • I am so happy there are others who think this song is amazing. I think it is the best Odds and Sods song, and should have received more recognition. Love it! Long Live Who!!!

  • The liner notes of my vinyl say "killing". It sure sounds like killing. Are you sure? And, hell yes it matters. Everything Pete writes matters...to me, at least.

  • do you know, i don't like the lifehouse version... although the instrumental is the same. i prefer this one ^^ (and beside, Pete put guitar)

  • Homer: MAGIC BUS!

Roger: Alright, we'll play Magic Bus, if you tear down this wall!

    Homer: ...PINBALL WIZARD!

  • Great song

  • @platoon812 Pete was very savvy about the early synth technology. I heard him talk about having to create "algorithms" for songs like Baba O'Riley and Won't Get Fooled... He chuckled at how easy today's musicmakers have it compared to then.

  • More Moon magic the general radio listening public never heard.

  • Incredible tune. I Feel like i'm on the 70's.

I am eleven years old and im brazilian, my favorite band is The Who.

  • @platoon812 I am guessing running the analog synth output into a guitar foot pedal called an envelope filter. maybe try looking up "envelop filter" on youtube. this is also how Bootsy Collins got his bass sound. "wack quack". yeah baby

  • nice extended outro here.

original LP inexplicably cut it off...

  • This song makes me say, Thank god for good speakers!

  • @Mugsycache14567 I met a guy recently who saw Alice Cooper warm up for the Who at the Grande Ballroom in Michigan in 1970. He told me that Alice killed a chicken that night....I think that is what Pete is talking about here
