Buena Vista Park in Alma, Wisconsin is an amazing place to view the Mississippi River Valley. High above the river you can see an incredible distance. Wabasha, Minnesota can be seen just up and across the river. We love to spend time there capturing images of the beautiful sunsets. Alma is also the home of Lock & Dam #4. There are 27 lock & dams that are part of the nine-foot channel navigation project of the Upper Mississippi River. The project covers about 670 miles of river between St. Paul, MN and St. Louis, MO. While watching the sun set I captured several images of a bardge approaching from the south and making its way into the lock & dam. With night fall upon us we stopped at the viewing platform to watch the barge continue its journey to St. Paul with a load of cement. If you ever get the chance to hang out by the river it is well worth your time to spend some time in Alma. The is also a great set of railroad tracks to watch a very active line. Thanks for watching!
