  • The president sent troops into Iraq after getting the OK from congress. Ron Paul's starting premise's are incorrect. Our wars have been "just wars" against enemies that have been a threat. We were attacked on 9/11, by those who were involved even by their support of the attackers. What you are suggesting is that we must get nuked before we can respond. How do you respond to terrorists of "no country", but who are supported behind the scenes?

  • @jackdamaris, (1of4) First off, you misunderstand the point of Congress declaring war. It means that Congress decides to go to war, not the President. The Iraq Resolution you reference gave Bush the decision-making authority, which is blatantly unconstitutional (please read the resolution if you do not believe me). The power to declare war was never to be invested in one individual. The majority of Congress failed to uphold their oath of office. 156 members were faithful.

  • @jackdamaris, (2of4) Second, you wrongly assume that all of our enemies have been a threat to the nation. The Bush administration (Colin Powell specifically) admitted that the WMD intelligence was wrong and therefore the war was unjustified. Tyrannical rulers certainly are threats to certain people, but that doesn't mean the US has the automatic-authority to wage war against them. Does a foreign nation have the moral right to wage war against the US because we have a tyrant ruler?

  • @jackdamaris, (3of4) Third, no one is saying that you wait to get nuked. If there is a legitimate threat to the nation, US citizens via congressional representatives can vote to declare war against that nation. That's what the Constitution dictates - not one man deciding for everyone. This is all Ron Paul wants. You want war? OK, but at least obey the law in doing so. Please read this article, starting @ paragraph 7: w w w. lewrockwell .c o m /yates/yates92.html.

  • @jackdamaris, (4of4) Fourth, when you are attacked by a gang of thugs like we were on 9/11, you write letters of marque and reprisal to specifically target those responsible. This is what Ron Paul wanted to do, which is the hawkish position of the Constitution. Changing focus from Osama to Hussein makes no logical sense and did nothing to pay restitution to the victims of 9/11. There is no biblical basis for invading an entire country for the crimes of individuals.

  • I have no desire to attack you. At all. I only want to arrive at the truth.

There are a great many points I take exception with in this series. Would you be willing to have them enumerated point by point and to then go through them peaceably back-and-forth in video discussion?

  • @foxmuldr, I am always up for a friendly discussion. I would love to hear your disagreements with my series and welcome any criticism. I do not have the time nor the resources to partake in back-and-forth video responses. However, feel free to do your own and I can respond to you by email. Or, feel free to PM me with your critique. Either way, whatever you do, make sure I am notified of it.

  • @charon128, Jesus' command of turning the cheek is not dealing with matters pertaining to civil law. He's giving a personal admonition to be mature and merciful in conflicts, but he still affirms the role of government in executing justice against criminals. • King David's sin with Bathsheba began when he stayed home from the battlefield. When kings go out to battle... A constitutional law should be whoever votes for war must send a child or relative to the front lines. It is cowardly for a president to send other people's children to war and not his own.

  • The military is called the Department of DEFENSE. The wise founding fathers believe and debated the just war theory. National defense is similar to self defense. Pre-emptive war is legalized murder. 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 reveals the weapons of our warfare are NOT carnal.
