To get an authentic experience when playing arcade games on your PC or XBox Live Arcade, you need legitimate arcade hardware. A good stick still costs a fair bit of coin however it's not that hard to make one of your own at reduced cost.

  • aww man... account suspended? i thought that thing was awesome! i wish i woulda saved it or something...

  • @snakeinmaboots Apologies for that, having some hosting issues. Will be sorted shortly and the article will be back up.

  • what wires did you use for this? great tutorial by the way!

  • @xgame8 Just light duty stranded core wire. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • Great video! I have wanted an arcade stick...well since I was like 8 years old playing SSF2 on the SNES and saw them in Game Pro magazine. I don't play enough arcade games and fighters to really justify buying an expensive stick, but this project looks fun enough that I'd do it even if it is only a little cheaper than buying a manufactured one. What was your final cost on this and do you recommend any specific retailer for budget arcade parts? Thanks for uploading this tutorial.

  • @cjhatesu SSF2 on the SNES was my first exposure to arcade gaming, good times. I usually buy my parts from either eBay or ozstick.com.au (if you're in Australia). Costs include approx. $30 for joystick, buttons and microcontrollers. $15 for non-genuine 360 controller (eBay), $10 for the housing and $5 for the other small components although I had most of the basics already. Prices are in AUD. Thanks for watching!

  • ok seriously people? Where have you been? This idea has been thought up a long time ago.

  • @x2Jiggy wow, you weren't kidding when you said shortly :D awesome!

  • do you sell them and if you do how much would you sell it for?:D

  • Bro thank you! I have a broken system and wanted to do this. I have a question, i am trying to place the ABXY buttons on the back of the controller. Would I use the same process? Would I want to use the same type of wire, or thinner? And what would i use for the buttons themselves? Sorry so many questions. But, thanks again for posting this!

  • @x2Jiggy btw is there any specific button layout you used or did you make it yourself?

  • @x2Jiggy awesome thanks! i plan on using this tutorial to build a 2 player side by side fight stick for my mame arcade!

  • Wow! Really amazing work. Wish I had some of your skills :)

  • I tried and blow xbox 360 controller
