@RNRDOLL I understand what you mean, but perhaps I didn't clarify enough. I meant MODERN American music. From your list, I only like Vai and EVH, but we can chalk that up to personal taste. I think what we have in the states right now for "Metal" sucks: Slipknot, BLS, (Modern) Metallica, Shadows Fall, etc. I just happen to prefer European Metal: Amorphis, Evergrey, Brainstorm, Iron Maiden, Amon Amarth, Mercenary.. I am proud to be American, I just hate today's music here. Just my opinion

@twilightdagger So Vai,Lynch,Jake E. Lee, Aldrich, EVH, Dimebag etc..all suck? Psh..America has tons of amazing guitarists. Besides, rock n roll all an american music style..the europeans just took it and reintroduced it to us when we lost touch with it in the mid 60's, then we took it back in the late 70's, when Van Halen showed up. I'd say 70% or more of all the most well known, great guitarists are American. Have some f'n pride.

@esp2hybrid Thats because it doesnt matter. If it sounds good and it works, who cares? Its about getting out ideas the best way possible. Music theory helps for sure but guys like Holdsworth and EVH were self taught. There are way too many Berklee dudes who can play crazy licks all day and know all the theory there is to know, but cant write a good rock song worth a damn. I should know, I hung out with them. They suck at performing and writing, but can play circles around you..which is useless.

@esp2hybrid What a contridiction. You don't learn talent. You have it or you don't. Anybody can take lessons and music classes to learn keys, scales, and theory. There isn't any talent in doing that.

Well, I've got one for sale. The band has split up and now I need sth smaller so I get rid of my V-empire. It's an awesome amp, definitely. Never heard anything that would be that versatile yet so specific. Great one!
