Huntsman Spider Slaying in Sydney, Australia

I was called home from work early, as my wife and her mate Penny refused to go into the lounge as there was a big hairy beast in there - they'd not normally shy away from such an offer, so I knew it must be a really scary little bugger....

And indeed it was - the highly venomous and deadly Grey Huntsman. These things are absolutely lethal - which gives you an idea of the bravery that I show in this clip - to get so close without showing the beast any fear!

Needless to say, in the battle that followed, there was only one victor!

Long live the Pound.

my worst fear is spiders.i'm really afraid of the spiders we got here in sweden,even though the biggest swedish spiders are maybe 1" tall or maybe a bit bigger. i got to say u are brave to smack that thing with just a paper. i would have shot the spider with a shotgun or somthing :P

every one here is cruel!! ok maybe not everyone but why do you kill them for? if we didn't have spiders, the world would be over run by insects. if there is a huntsman in my house, i just take it out to the garden. i don't "smash it with a fly swat" or "wrap it up in tissue and flush it down the toilet" ovcourse the story would b different if it was a sydney funnel web but the huntsman is not dangerous. sure they bite and produce venom BUT it ain't fatal.

Do you know how many billions more spiders there are than humans? And thousands upon thousands of humans die every day. And overpopulation is still an issue. I rest my case. Kill that F-ing spider.

I'm Australian too, but I never kill these spiders. I am 60 years old and I have never even had one crawl on me, but I have seen many of them around my house.They are harmless, please don't kill them. I just brush them outside with a broom.
