Following on from his BAFTA-shortlisted Panorama programme Taking on the Taliban, Ben caught up with 24-year-old Lance Corporal Jack Mizon of the Queen's Company, Grenadier Guards.

Jack was a hero in Afghanistan, honoured for his bravery after his involvement in some of the fiercest fighting in the territory that left two of his fellow soldiers dead and many more seriously wounded. But back home in the UK Ben found Jack struggling to readjust to civilian life and frequently involved in fights near his Aldershot barracks.

Ben followed Jack's exploits for two months in Afghanistan and then back home as Jack was charged with assault and GBH, stripped of his rank, and faced the prospect of four years in a civilian prison.

  • I wonder if most of the times they do area fire or they actually see the taliban

  • @N3wtix What regiment are you going?

  • The director of this doc reminds me of Danfung Dennis who directed Hell and Back Again. The way they both focus on the troops and focus on a particular soldier are really revealing. I think these two should do a joint project...but hopefully the war will be over before then. bit. ly/yYsv5o

  • They survive the air strikes by using tunnels or bunkers, or the bombs are not dropping on target or some members of the ANA are tipping them off.
