  • i did this and works good but it works better if you soidier the copper wire to the black wire and ground it so its easier

  • @MrViko1 I'm happy to hear it...that was my main goal for other people to be able to enjoy this...thanks for watchin man

  • You can also send yourself a message and dont read it

  • @GrenadeApple3 yeah but then once you turn it on the blue light goes out. Mine stays on even when im playing

  • Works!! Unfortunately my soldering skills are terrible so it took a lot longer than it probably should have

anyway if anyone is having problems cos I couldn't figure out how to strip the wire without de soldering it,

I ended up de soldering the black wire, stripping it, wrapping the metal from the inside of a bread tie (around half way down the wire) and then grounding it to the disk drive, then re soldering the black wire, make sure the black and red connection aint touching and it works!

  • @metalmario128 thats awesome! glad to hear it. I hope you enjoy!

  • Very well done tutorial btw. I successfully completed this little gem of a mod. For those wondering about materials, you can also use headphone wires as long as they are copper. If there are two sets of separate wire groups in one rubber shield just remove the one that isn't copper. Also, I can confirm that grinding down one side off of a phillips head driver does in fact work for the tri-wing screws. I suggest once removed, replace them with standard phillips screws for future repaires.

  • So you bypassed the shutoff signal on the board by grounding it out. It won't turn off unless the light is red because the amber light indicates standby mode. When the wii is in standby, it is still getting power. I discovered this by way of my usb hdd with no power switch. Though I had shutdown (amber light), the wii, the usb ports were still powering my hdd. The red light indicates full power off mode, which will kill all power to it. This applies to the lightbar as well.

  • Got it to work on my black Wii with the second method but now I got to press down the eject button harder to get CDs out, worth it

  • i did the same mod, but when i put in a disc it made a large scrach

  • Thanks dude :D

  • Hey, is it safe to solder the black wire to the metal part of the disk tray you said to put the other end of the wire at?

  • @Mangsteer yes man thank you
