Sure nice to see you on the hunt for a big carp Barry but i do like it a lot more when you're fishing for pike with the flyrod!
That made me decide to learn flyfishing and go pikehunting with streamers!
Only catch and release ofcourse!

will a 5wt fly rod work
for small streams and ponds

@barryreynoldsflyfish Where would I find these flys? I went this weekend and saw a few feeding fish, but they weren’t real interested in what I had to offer.

This video really shows that fly fishing is so just so much more than fishing on trout!

Can you tell me what line size are you using for carp fly fishing ?
6wt ? 7wt ? 8wt ?
teats875 1 year ago
@teats875 I prefer a 6wt rod but most people i know will use a 7wt or 8wt! Really depends on the water, size of fish, and the flies you are throwing at them. Like I said I prefer the 6wt as most of the carp we catch run in the 6lb to 12lb class and a 6wt is more than adequate for them. a lighter rod will be more sensitive and forgiving on light leaders and tippets...

Nice Barry! What is the fly you were using? Carp Candy?
dalhopgood 1 year ago
@dalhopgood we were using Clouser Swimming Nymphs, Whitlock's Near-N-Nuff Crayfish and a variety of other small crayfish patterns we tie using marabou! They love their crayfish!
