An embryo isn't a human.

i feel like this guy sums up everything that is wrong in the Church today. He is stating that because the world, and what i would assume are a lot of Catholics who r uneducated in what it means to be Catholic, think that abortion and contraception are ok things to do then the church should go against its principles that have set it apart as Christs church for 2000 years and conform to the will of the world, which is a very non-Catholic thing to do. Im glad the church still stands for whats right

@2000yrCatholic Yes, there can be and are pro-choice Catholics. Nothing in the bible condemns abortion. The Pope is the leader of the Catholic church, not god. A Catholic who worships the Pope is an idolator. It is entirely possible to be both Catholic and NOT an anti-choice misogynist.

And, all of the Catholics that I know drink, curse, fight, etc...We're not a stuck-up bunch. A few crazies give us a bad name. God doesn't want people screaming crazy shit at people who are already having a tough time. God is compassion, eh?

@2000yrCatholic I'm from Ireland, and I was raised Catholic, and this gentleman has it spot on. There are some loony right-wing Catholics out there, but the majority of Catholics are very progressive and liberal (especially compared to most Protestants). All one needs to do to see this is see where Catholics are predominant. Boston, Catholic and liberal. Chicago, Catholic and liberal. New York, Catholic and liberal. In the South where there aren't many Catholics is where it's conservative.

Who cares what most people think? The point of the church isn't to conform to the ever changing ideas of what the masses believe. That would be utterly pointless. The point of the Church is to stand firm to God's word for the purpose of leading people to salvation. The Catholic Church will NEVER back down on spiritual or moral issues.

One forgotten truth is that Jesus did not tell the Apostles to take a majority vote to decide what is TRUTH. Rather He promised His Spirit would lead them into all truths, and he told US to listen to THEM and conform our lives as such. I don't give a rat's tale about this western "majority rules" crap. I care for the TRUTH whose teachers are indeed the bishops. Get it straight. Repent and believe in the Gospel.
"catholics for choice". What? There is
no such thing. A faithful catholic obeys catholic teaching.
Teaching by the Magisterium ( the pope
and the bishops in communion with the
pope). pro-choicers do not obey
catholic teaching. Either a person is
a faithful catholic or pro choice, you can't
be both. Repent, heaven or hell the
"choice" is yours.

Our bodies must never become the property of the state, so we can be forced into either bearing children at their order or forced into an abortion with a "one child policy," such as is found in China. Our wombs must not be subject to legislation either way. I think women are intelligent enough to decide when they are ready to be mothers. The very people who don't want the government to "force them" to buy insurance are the very ones who so freely FOIST their opinions on motherhood on everyone.
