I'm confused. Since when do private companies impose government taxes? A tax goes to the government. Also, the radio stations have to pay to play. The "free access to our songs" part is bullshit. I smell a rat...

hinted at tell use the labels aren't interested in competition. U know any fee structure will lock out any small artist owned labels or coops Additional talk radio wouldn' be so bad if, a real & fair, fairness doctrine was out in place.

@insanezenmistress This is not a tax. Tax is a pushbutton word, to distract the population from the machinations inside the corporate word. As is is station owners already decide what we get to hear. They have no interest in presenting a debate, or the would be practicing a real & fair, fairness doctrine. I'm not sure how much of the public wants to hear debate as apposed to some1 telling them what they want to believe is true.

@thoomolong I see it as corp. Vs. corp. greed, tax is a push button word used to distract that. everything was fine and dandy when the conglomerates where purchasing small local stations & eliminating jobs Forcing piracy? If mp3 sold for a nickel via the net, many still would steal them. Perhaps the greed begins at the bottom level?

@kountryvaudeville This is corporate greed no doubt. No one really cares about the small stations, and this will boil down to corp. Vs. Corp. greed in the end Anyway free TV still exists. No one is forced to purchase CATV or Sat. service. I used to have Sat. service, and never was taxed

There will be no debate! The government will ultimately end up making YOU pay for listening to the radio one way or another! Remember we HAD free TV? The government wanted to tax you so they "ENCOURAGED' you to go cable or satellite which is TAXED! There was no debate and they lied about what they wee dong! Radio will eventually fall to bureauracy and "limited" "FREE SPEACH"-Ron Noonan-Politians want your money for campaigns-make them work for it "FIRST"-Dont be lied to!

This isn't a tax and doesn't have anything to do with "the people". It is a business charging another business a fee.
The claims that the radio stations are making against the record companies in these ads are true. However, why are they speaking out now, after years of kissing the asses of the major labels. Years of record companies 1)overcharging for CDs (in the 90s)
2)being slow to sell mp3s online thus FORCING internet piracy by music lovers
3) harrassing children over "stealing" music.

Media voted and endorsed these nutcases we have in office in the first place. We were told by the media its our civic duty to pay taxes. We tried to warn them that "Spread The Wealth" programs are taxes that favor corporations. They laughed when we brought up Joe The Plumber and how the Liberals would abuse their power and cave in to Corporations. Liberal media helped get these nutcases in.. So pony up like the rest of us have to.
