In February of 2007, the Venezuelan criminal court Judge López admitted a complaint filed by the political prisoner Eligio Cedeño against two officers of the court for false testimony. Judicial officials loyal to President Hugo Chávez began to apply pressure. She was threatened professionally and physically, and then suffered an attempted kidnapping of her son. Another female judge released Cedeño because he had been detained longer than the law allows without trial. Chavez demanded her arrest and she was picked up by police within hours. She's currently being held in prison, and Chavez wants her to be locked up for 30 years. This is absolutely disgusting treatment of an honest woman doing her job. >:(
