In this clip, Jay Harness, MD, FACS explains is there is a way to predict a paitent's recurrence risk for Ductal Carcinoma In Situ.

Doctors look at things like the grade of DCIS -- low grade has a low chance of coming back, high grade has a high chance of coming back. They also look at the size of the DCIS -- the smaller the DCIS, the lower the chance of the cancer coming back, particularly with obviously negative margins. The larger the DCIS, the greater the chance of it recurring in the breast. Age is also a consideration in determining the risk of recurrence.
