I have been cleaning fish for 51 years and don't have any knife scars to show for it. I do use steel mesh gloves for white bass and sheephead because of the fins. Stingray, galftop and eels are the slimiest creatures known to man. I used a water hose to blow off the slime on the stingray. If you didn't grow up cleaning stuff I do recommend you get you a steel mesh glove. I also use a carbon steel knives when I am not using the electric because thesy are easier to keep a sharp edge.
