For some reason, the last home game of the year is always raucous. Here is a case in point. Final game of the 1988 AK League season. Goldpanners must win the game to claim the title. The Kenai Peninsula Oilers and Bill Dunckel stand in the way.

It all comes down to a showdown between future Major Leaguer Bret Boone (USC) and future Goldpanners Bill Dunckel (SDSU). Bill is in left field with Bret up to bat. Who will win in this matchup? Who will win the ABL title?

Also, pitchers Erik Schullstrom and Greg Brummett are major leaguers. Bret Boone, obviously.. and there were others as well, including baseball executive par excellance Alan Regier.
