Hi my name is Frank Giorno and I will be reading selections from my book of poems "Arrivederci! Plastic-Covered Couch" (published by Lyricalmyrical Press, June 2008). I would like to thank my publisher Luciano Iacobelli for the outstanding work in helping me to put together these poems. He made this collection of poems possible.

I also want to thank Rudy tonights host, Heather Catsby and the Art Bar Reading Series Team. Art Bar does a terrific job bringing poetry to the people of Toronto. And Clinton's is a great venue for the Art Bar reading series. My poems are about the forces of that impact on our lives, the transitions, adaptations, experiences, awakenings and the insight we develop. They are written with humour and whimsy but contain darker, starker, more painful topics that I struggled with and I am sure some of you also struggled with.
The poems begin just before birth and looks at the forces that will shape our lives and we spend the rest of our lives trying to deal with them. My first poem is "Birth and Death On Vacation By the Shores of the Mediterranean Sea.
