  • @citrano2012 There was an article about this. The officer was interviewed and said he was lost while trying to reach the house with the fire.

  • How could you not see that raging fire through those barren winter trees? The officer was responding to the fire to begin with then saw the fire, then saw the dog who got scared and ran back home. I don't want to sound pessimistic, but that's most likely the reality. Either way, they did find the fire yes and the dog ran home to make sure everything was ok! Cool!!!

  • According to the MSNBC story and the official report, after leading the cops to the fire, the dog went back to that main road and led in the fire trucks the same way - so, I don't think it was a fluke.

  • @citrano2012 i think i heard that they couldnt locate the fire and came across the dog who then ran to the house. I could be wrong though this was awhile ago.

  • Either the officer got the call about the fire, or saw the flames from the road (that is a large fire that could have easily been seen through the barren winter trees) and was going to investigate, then the officer saw the dog. The dog then got scared by the patrol car and ran back home.

  • @7Lakings7 because ppl believe what they want to believe. Either the officer got the call about the fire, or saw the flames from the road (that is a large fire that could have easily been seen through the barren winter trees) and was going to investigate, then the officer saw the dog. The dog then got scared by the patrol car and ran back home.

  • That's pretty amazing considering they live in Alaska. I watched the show that was on and they seem like good people. . They said the dog is pretty skittish but he knew to what to do when it mattered. I have a German Shepard and the that guy is smart. I take him for walks to my bank which is 3 miles away and he listens to me on the way down there. On the way back it is a different story because he knows we are on our way back home so he deliberately misbehaves so he can go for a walk longer.

  • I'm pretty sure the dog was just thinking "what's that noisy thing with flashing lights? I better run home where it's safe." I don't think he was actually telling the cop where to go.

  • Amazing! Not only did the dog lead to the police to help his family from the fire, but the dog went back to lead the fire department in also. Just watched this on the history channel! Go Buddy!!
