Police forensic teams were today examining the wreckage of a van which plunged into the River Witham, killing a 24-year-old Lincoln man.
The victim was believed to be behind the wheel of the white Mercedes Sprinter which went into the water just three miles from the site of another river tragedy which killed four children in September.
A second city man was also in the vehicle.
Police said the van was travelling along Timberland Drove, at Martin Fen near Woodhall Spa, at around 12.10pm, when it failed to stop at a T-junction with Witham Bank.
It went across the road and down the steep bank into the water.
