I was friends with Mark. I was just a kid and he was apperaing at Gus Steven's in Biloxi Mississippi. I don't remember the details, but my Mom had become friends with Mark and he ended up staying at our house while he was appearing at Gus Steven's. There was no 'romance' between Mark and my Mom, she thought of him like a son. I just remember he was very funny and fun to be with. He took a likeing to me. He did drink a lot and loved to eat very rare steaks.
There was a sadness about him

This is a great song. The drumbeat reminds me of the one in Roy Orbison's "Crying"

Oh, my God, he actually used the word...suicide...which probably was why radio stations then wouldn't play it. Thanks for posting!

Teen ANgel was his biggest record and this one is the closest to it. He was a one hit wondr but he had a good voice for those mello dramatic tunes.

That's simply great.
I can hear the Everlys sing it, or Jimmie Rodgers.
Thanks dowtoearth985 for sharing that story. It is amazing to hear from someone who actually knew and met Mark. I never did unfortunately but I am a massive fan and have been collecting his music for years, thanks again. Paul
