Thank you. This last week I heard about Herriot for the first time. So I went yesterday to library and took his book- if I would translate the name from Hebrew - "Every Living Creature" or maybe "Every Living Things" and I am impressed of his frankly stories.

I love animals and as a Hindu, although I was unable to work with them in this life, I know that I will definitely be a vet in my next life! What a great Gift, the Gift of Life! Sometimes feel sad for for some who are one-and-done.

Ditto to the prior comments. I feel an affinity for these places and a familiarity, too. I put on the CD (book on tape) and drift away to my happy place when life gets stressful. God bless James Herriot!

Wow you said exactly what I feel. The books are such a beautiful escape. I just returned from my 3rd trip to Yorkshire and am still there in my heart and waiting to get back just as soon as I can, hopefully some day I will never have to leave :)

Christopher Timothy must be the coolest guy, always doing his part in the name of James Herriot. Most stars would say forget it; they are too far beyond to do a tribute to someone, but he seems to appreciate and honor the memory of his character, James. I loves him for that!

My hero . They lived as a family inTopcliffe Rd , Thirsk ,on the left side you should be able to see in the backyard their former Tenniscourt . In Thirlby , Joan and Alf lived in the end of this beautiful village , you find their home if you look at the pond in the frontgarden . Siegfried ( Donald Sinclair ) lived a miles or so further op the road in Southwood Hall , with a magnificent vieuw at Sutton Bank .
