Combination of two classic songs plus some keyboard improvisation featuring electric piano and alto saxophone sounds. Before I put this piece together, had been walking along the shore boardwalk passing one beach house after another being aware of the ambient sounds. I passed one house and their stereo was blasting Summertime by George Gershwing and I remembered how much I always liked this classic. Then, with that song still in my mind I passed another beach house, this time playing Bill Wither's Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone. Now I remembered how much I loved this song. I said to myself, when I get home I want to play each of those songs on the keyboard. Interestingly they both worked well in the same key and I just naturally blended the two together. It worked nicely for me. The sax sounds, I think sound terrific. The upload quality is, unfortunately not as good as the original sound file. Now that YT offers 1080p uploads, I went back to the original track and uploaded it again with visuals showing scenes from my walks at the Jersey Shore. My hope is that the sound quality can now be better. The new clip is titled: Chillin Marathon of "Summertime" meets "Ain't No Sunshine When She's Gone" - HD Sound Version

  • Really is amazing how you blended those. Don't usually see so much creativity mixed with so much skill. Really nice.

  • @ApogeeBeats Thank you very much. I'm glad you enjoyed the combination. You may also enjoy the video I made for this song. It's on this same channel, under the title: "Mellow music excursion". Good luck.

  • innovative!

  • @MrKeys57 Thank you. It's a long performance but I enjoyed weaving it all together.

  • I really started to space out while listening to this, which tells me it's really really good. Thanks for the music!!! that red doll is just hanging on there on the side of the keyboard, for dear life! Great tunes, interpretation.

  • @MTWalker12 Glad this song was therapeutic. Just don't operate heavy machinery while listening. Thank you. My "Extraterrestrial Mood Music" song is also kind of spacey if you're in the mood. This message is starting to sound like an Amazon.com recommendation doesn't it? If you like this, then you may also like ...... :D

  • korg m3 beats them all!

  • It's like comparing a BMW and a Honda. Both are great, it's a matter of budget. IMHO, the yamaha YPG is the best 88 keyboard you can get for around $900 new. But if you can stretch your budget substantially more then Roland, Yamaha (Motif) and Korg have great high end keyboards. There are strong defenders of all the brands as well as strong opposers to all the brands. Choose what you personally like.

  • All performances are "Live" (continuous). Backing was via existing Fantom rhythm presets with MFX tweaked via the layer/split menu. Bass line is an arpeggio style. I've tapped deeper into the Fantom arpeggio presets in my "Human - Extra Mellow version #2" where there's a double arpeggio. My left hand is playing arpeggio on top of the built in arpeggio there so it sounds pretty rich. The next level is to use the sequencer to create more customized beats and rhythms beyond the base presets.

  • How much of the backing was "Live" woth your fantom ? or was it a sequenced backing. I have a fantom, but haven't looked too much at the use of live drums etc. Was your bass line part of an arpeggio style ?
