  • love these arguments that I allways come across when I search up music artists

  • good old mafia song :) i love it

  • @735vinnie You are absolutely right. I just can't help getting involved BUT , you are spot on, it IS a waste of time. I think its a sign of the times..ignorance is bliss.(ha ha!) I am gonna take your advice.

  • @taildragger53 ... As I listen to the playlist of 100 Django songs, this being #21... I see so many people argue... or have to for some reason ... defend Django's music to the very few... who WILL NEVER know.... I say, leave them be and leave them ignorant... they deserve that... and more... :-)

Please... save yourself the trouble... it really is sad and hard to understand... how some people can not grasp the simplicity and complexity of Django's music... you need not be a music lover to know

  • @sniperkneupper Well, i'm not going to argue with you.

If you want to know the reason WHY Django is regarded as the BEST then you'll have to ask John McLaughlin,George Benson,Martin Taylor, Andy Summer, Steve Howe,Page, Beck, Catherine, Bireli Lagrene and millions of other "snobby douchebags" , as you've termed them.

Argue it with THEM, not me, but remember..THEY are famous and YOU'RE not!

  • @taildragger53 and those all were worshiping fan boys. This guy was just a good guitarist nothing more. To say that there are no passionate and skilled guitar players since the 40's is just retarded. Listen to the solos from mastodons elephant songs or their leads on crack the skye. Seriously why are django fanboys such snobby douchebags. I don't hear anything that is SO MUCH BETTER than anything that followed. Granted his playing is inspiring but he doesn't invalidate everyone that followed.

  • @Cthulhussama thats not the paco de lucia piece that I was referring to. And if you listen to more django he shreds A LOT.

  • @Cthulhussama There have been plenty of superb players, although i'm a jazz fan and would rate Joe Pass, Tal Farlowe, Wes Montgomery, George Benson before any others (all were influenced by Django)

BUT there's something totally spooky about Django's playing.

I've been listening to him since 1966 and everytime i play a tune of his a different atmosphere takes over.

The level of emotion, passion, melancholy is beyond words.

Di Meola/McLaughlin /Coryell all say "Django SPEAKS to you!"

  • Reinhardt was in constant agony.

The left side of his body remained unhealed for the rest of his life since the caravan fire deformed his hand and legs when he was 18.

The skin on his left hand was fused tight together and sometimes it would tear and bleed. He had to drink heavy to kill the pain.

I caught a glimpse of Django's guitar when it was on show in Ivor Mairants Shop during the late 60s.

    The action was VERY high.

Consider his handicap plus the discomfort of his guitar?. He was UNIQUE.

  • @sniperkneupper Their nowhere near, however great technically. Even people like Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page , Richie Blackmore and thousands of others, including Santana, have said nobody made a complete connection to their instrument like Django.

And they know alot more than you, a mere blogger on youtube.

Every note he hit was with pure passion. None of the ones you mention have the same handicap as Django and how would they sound if they did?
