http://www.mlwebco.com In this video I answer the question of whether someone (a small business) should build a blog or a website. What are the benefits and what is best for you?
If you have any questions, send an email to mlocke@mlwebco.com or visit http://www.mlwebco.com

Thanks,

~ Mike

  • Hi Michael - I have a question I hope you can answer.

I'd like to add blog-type content to my website (the facility for the information on my front page to be updated quickly and with the minimum of fuss!)

My gut tells me - adding some kind of blog coding into my dreamweaver website template would be the easiest way to achieve this - but I'm unsure where or how to begin doing this.

Hope this question makes sense! Thanks for the great videos.

  • @VexationAudio Yes, I have a couple videos that sort of show you how to do what you're trying to accomplish. The first step is to get your site up, then install a wordpress blog on the server. Then create a custom home page template and install the "recent posts" plugin on your home page. I have videos that show you how to do this. Check my videos and search for the word "WordPress"...you'll find a few videos that touch on all these points.

  • @VexationAudio anytime, thanks... you'll always be learning new stuff all the time. Just little bits hear an there as you go. ;)

  • Random question...Do you know anything about the musical opening and closing to the video? Is there a longer track to that or was it just made to be a short lick?

  • @mlwebco Exactly what I needed and I've managed to incorporate Wordpress now.

Comments from piecing the info together from the four Wordpress vids - a few things the average user might not get, like - once wordpress is installed on my site, where do my already built web pages, images go? I tried putting them in the Wordpress "Default" theme first! I also installed the blog incorrectly first time round - installing it on a sub-directory with a "/blog" extension.

    Thanks again, sir.

  • @mlwebco that's great Michael, thanks hugely.

It seems like each thing you learn just leads to new questions - but I'm hoping to reach the point where at least the key skills become second nature. Your great content continues to be a massive help.
